Barnes shows well. So does his Canadian pal, David Freiheit. So does his poll analysis pal Rich Baris.

But populism? And infotainment? Not the province of true anything. Just more appetite.

"Sell to the masses, live with the classes." And vice versa. Vices Versace ... I want some more of that good branded stuff, please!

When I saw him recently Barnes lost some weight. Wizard of Ozempic, the great & powerful, con/tinuously.

Thanks for your comment. Barnes is not a shallow thinker, but he revels in his low class origins. I think that is a good thing, even if I am not interested in much of that culture.

Reveling is a good characterization.

Auld lang syne. The good old days. Walking miles to school in the snow uphill both ways … back in heroic President Jackson’s term.

“If it was good enough for me …” to fill in the blank with one story of so many stories: To not be on the murdered & run out of town on the trail of Tears to Oklahoma side, along with the central bankers (but not really, that last bunch of revelers).

Or, the boomers are responsible & the posterity is pissed. Etc on & on us against them.

But whether it’s legitimate (even as just some example of repetition compulsion, or windmill-tilting lost cause fixation) or not, populism is the shallows.

Populism is the quantity theory of authority/authoritarianism as versus the “quality” theories of the compulsion to dictate “a failure to communicate” - even as Cool Hand Luke & the Captain read each other’s comms loud & clear & were burdened by no misunderstanding at all.

Populism is The Ox Bow Incident. And the utilitarianism of being in the Lynch mob as opposed being the Lynch mob’s object.

Might vs mite.

Whatever the source fuel of the authoritarian compulsion, whether leveled down or up, the compulsion is emperor’s robes perennial & those revelers are the feature that makes buggy the surround … even as the surrounding insect populations/economies of my youth have been collapsed & as the human versions have been & are being done dirty likewise.

I appreciate your work.
